Having just returned from a fabulous trip to Kerala, I have no hesitation in recommending The Indian Journeys and Mr Newmon. As part of our trip, The Indian Journeys organised a weeklong tour to experience the tea plantations and spectacular scenery of the Western Ghats, the spice plantations of the Cardamom Hills, elephant riding and bathing (great fun) in Thekkady, and luxury cruising in a houseboat on The Backwaters. From the first contact following our enquiry, right through to end of our trip, the service provided by Mr Newmon was exceptional. A brief call from Mr Newmon each evening to check all was going well was one example of the attentive service The Indian Journeys provide. When our itinerary was disrupted by a local strike, Mr Newmon calmly and quickly contacted drivers and guides to readjust our itinerary to ensure we didn't miss out. Last December I travel with my girlfriend around India, Rajasthan and Kerala. If you are planning to travel to India, be prepare for an amazing country but also my advise is to prepare your travel really well. To define where to go is a challenge; this was our first step with the India Journeys, they gave us really good recommendation about the different places to visit according to our expectations and budget. We decided to book with them a package for Kerala, and travel in Rajasthan by our own, and I won’t recommend to travel in India without a travel agency, especially if you are planning to visit different cities, and it is your first time in India. It is better to have a small travel agency, like the Indian Journeys, which personalize the travel as you want and take care of everything. In Kerala, The India Journeys organized for us a perfect romantic travel, with a professional driver, and really good hotels. New Mon, our travel agent, took care of everything including some train tickets for Rajasthan that I couldn’t book online, he also organized for us a romantic dinner in a fantastic place, the best romantic dinner that I have ever had.

Good Morning Newmon, It is now two weeks since we returned from our magical 34-day trip to Southern India, all organised, very professionally, by you. You were very attentive to our specific requests to develop a 'tailor made' itinerary and the beach holiday breaks allowed us to rest for a few days before continuing our journey. It all worked like clockwork. The car provided was spacious and the driver (Michael, shown in the picture taken on Ooty Lake) had good enough English and was very skilled, fun and helpful. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and you, by your kind and attentive service (ringing us every day to check on our wellbeing!) made all the difference. We felt safe and well looked after throughout the trip. It was also a pleasure to have dinner with you when visiting Kochi. We used "The Indian Journeys" Tour Company in January 2017 for tours whilst on a cruise. If you're like my husband and I you will hate the cruise tours, waiting for people to get back to the coach and everything taking so long! This tour company was very good, comfortable cars with our own driver and tour guide. We used the company three times and found both the driver and tour guide very nice on all three tours. The drivers were very attentive to my disability and the tour guides were very knowledgeable. It's certainly a lot nicer way to get to know the place you are visiting and of course you learn a lot more than you would on a coach full of people as this is one to one. Obviously it costs more, but in my opinion well worth it.

“Our group of 10 travellers (Royal Caribbean Mariner of The Seas, 26th May 2013) were very impressed with the professionalism of New Mon, Arun, Girish and their team from "The Indian Journeys" We were collected from the ship in a clean air conditioned mini bus. Our drive to the houseboat was on a well maintained, not too busy road where our English speaking guide gave us an insight into the lives of the people and information on points of interest. We boarded our traditional style thatch-roofed houseboat, which is unique to Kerala (but fitted with solar panels, air conditioning and a neat clean kitchen) in the town of Alappuzha Our idyllic houseboat journey cruised us through palm shaded vine entwined backwaters where little communities were living their peaceful lives., with us as their curious, privileged audience. We were greeted with smiles, cheers and much waving and made to feel welcome. With the fragrance of curry in the air we eagerly anticipated lunch which was served at "Citrus" a great little 4 star hotel. Lunch was a good variety of foods with a very tasty Chicken curry. Two 750ml bottles of beer per person challenged each one of us! We cruised back all too soon We were returned to our cruise ship well before boarding time feeling exhilarated by our experience. All arrangements were carried out with respect and we felt safe in the very capable care of the smiling New Mon and his team. All 10 of us had a fantastic trouble free experience!

There is lots to recommend about experiencing Kerala through Newmon’s organization - the time he dedicates to tailor making the trip to suit your interests in the lead up to the trip, a helpful, understanding and experienced driver; his hospitality when you meet up with him in person; and more. The one thing that stood out for me, however, was his connections with great guides - among some of best I have had in all my travels - and delightful places to stay. I thoroughly recommend Kurialacherry house for a real sense of the backwaters. No big international companies involved - just getting to know Kerala through local eyes and supporting local businesses. And it works out economical too! What a wonderfully relaxing time New Mon (The Indian Journeys) organized for us in Kerala – starting at the friendly Kochi Fort House where we experienced amazing meals, the Chinese fishing nets and site seeing experiencing delightful tuk tuk rides. From here to the Deshadan Backwater Resort before an enchanting overnight’s stayed on a house boat where we purchased fish that the crew prepared for our dinner. Then to the Marari Pearl for 3 nights (where we were upgraded to a room with our own pool) which gave us just what we needed - relaxation. Here we were able to wonder on the beach and mix with the fisherman while taking in the local atmosphere. All in all a time we will never forget thanks to New Mon’s thoughtful organization.
