Last December I travel with my girlfriend around India, Rajasthan and Kerala. If you are planning to travel to India, be prepare for an amazing country but also my advise is to prepare your travel really well. To define where to go is a challenge; this was our first step with the India Journeys, they gave us really good recommendation about the different places to visit according to our expectations and budget. We decided to book with them a package for Kerala, and travel in Rajasthan by our own, and I won’t recommend to travel in India without a travel agency, especially if you are planning to visit different cities, and it is your first time in India. It is better to have a small travel agency, like the Indian Journeys, which personalize the travel as you want and take care of everything. In Kerala, The India Journeys organized for us a perfect romantic travel, with a professional driver, and really good hotels. New Mon, our travel agent, took care of everything including some train tickets for Rajasthan that I couldn’t book online, he also organized for us a romantic dinner in a fantastic place, the best romantic dinner that I have ever had.

My husband and I went for a 12 days trip to India. We visited the Golden Triangle Khajurao and Varanasi. Having just returned from a fabulous trip to Kerala, I have no hesitation in recommending The Indian Journeys and Mr Newmon. As part of our trip, The Indian Journeys organised a weeklong tour to experience the tea plantations and spectacular scenery of the Western Ghats, the spice plantations of the Cardamom Hills, elephant riding and bathing (great fun) in Thekkady, and luxury cruising in a houseboat on The Backwaters. From the first contact following our enquiry, right through to end of our trip, the service provided by Mr Newmon was exceptional. A brief call from Mr Newmon each evening to check all was going well was one example of the attentive service The Indian Journeys provide. When our itinerary was disrupted by a local strike, Mr Newmon calmly and quickly contacted drivers and guides to readjust our itinerary to ensure we didn't miss out. We used Newmon at "The Indian Journeys» tour company for our 3 week no stop tour of India, which included Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kochi-Thekkady, Marari. He arranged all the hotels and transport, internal flights, the lot !!!! We had our own personal mini Van with our superb driver Pavan. At each stop we had a personal guide to tell us the history of the area and what we were seeing. There was no way we would have seen so much if Newmon had not organized our time so well. Whilst enjoying our 10-night stay in Agonda, South Goa, we looked into organising a similar length tour of Kerala. On the recommendation of a very detailed review on Trip Advisor, we contacted Indian Journeys. Within hours we had a reply from Newmon, with a suggested itinerary and recommendations for transportation from Goa to Kochi. Over the next couple of days we discussed by e-mail with Newmon various changes and alternatives, all of which were immediately carried out and with 48 hours we had a customised 10 day itinerary for our tour plus train tickets to Kochi. At this point we had not paid a penny! The overnight train journey of 14 hours was an experience in itself. We travelled 2nd class AC (all 1st class was booked as it was a public holiday), which if a little scruffy was clean enough and very comfortable. We ended up with 4 berth compartment to ourselves and slept most of the way. We arrived at Kochi station well rested and were met by Newmon. He then introduced us to Hari our driver (more about him later) then took us for lunch before transferring us to our hotel. After a city tour of Kochi we set off the next morning with Hari to begin our tour. Hari was an absolute delight. First and foremost (and essential on India’s roads) he was a very careful and steady driver. His seven year old car was immaculate and clearly very well maintained. Hari was a mine of information about the local culture, history, industry and much more. In particular he was an avid bird watcher and keen photographer and we learnt so much from him during our 10 days together. The tour cost covered all hotels with breakfast, plus full board on the houseboat. All tours and entrance fees were include, apart from two or three, which were clearly listed as options at our expense. Newmon contacted us almost every day, by phone or text, to check that we were happy and to deal with any issues that might have arisen. On our final day, a 4:00 start from Marari to get to Kochi airport, he met us on the road at 6:00 just to say goodbye! Apart from one hotel, where the food and service were somewhat lacking, everything about this tour well exceeded our expectations, not the least our wonderful driver Hari or Newmons’s attention to detail and personal service. At the end of the day, it is the people involved who make the difference between excellent and outstanding and that was certainly the case here. The overall cost of the tour was very reasonable and compared very favourably with tours that we had considered booking from the UK before leaving for Goa. Overall, we would not hesitate to recommend Indian Journeys and would definitely use them again in the future.

“Our group of 10 travellers (Royal Caribbean Mariner of The Seas, 26th May 2013) were very impressed with the professionalism of New Mon, Arun, Girish and their team from "The Indian Journeys" We were collected from the ship in a clean air conditioned mini bus. Our drive to the houseboat was on a well maintained, not too busy road where our English speaking guide gave us an insight into the lives of the people and information on points of interest. We boarded our traditional style thatch-roofed houseboat, which is unique to Kerala (but fitted with solar panels, air conditioning and a neat clean kitchen) in the town of Alappuzha Our idyllic houseboat journey cruised us through palm shaded vine entwined backwaters where little communities were living their peaceful lives., with us as their curious, privileged audience. We were greeted with smiles, cheers and much waving and made to feel welcome. With the fragrance of curry in the air we eagerly anticipated lunch which was served at "Citrus" a great little 4 star hotel. Lunch was a good variety of foods with a very tasty Chicken curry. Two 750ml bottles of beer per person challenged each one of us! We cruised back all too soon We were returned to our cruise ship well before boarding time feeling exhilarated by our experience. All arrangements were carried out with respect and we felt safe in the very capable care of the smiling New Mon and his team. All 10 of us had a fantastic trouble free experience!
