Having just returned from a fabulous trip to Kerala, I have no hesitation in recommending The Indian Journeys and Mr Newmon. As part of our trip, The Indian Journeys organised a weeklong tour to experience the tea plantations and spectacular scenery of the Western Ghats, the spice plantations of the Cardamom Hills, elephant riding and bathing (great fun) in Thekkady, and luxury cruising in a houseboat on The Backwaters. From the first contact following our enquiry, right through to end of our trip, the service provided by Mr Newmon was exceptional. A brief call from Mr Newmon each evening to check all was going well was one example of the attentive service The Indian Journeys provide. When our itinerary was disrupted by a local strike, Mr Newmon calmly and quickly contacted drivers and guides to readjust our itinerary to ensure we didn't miss out. I found NewMon and The Indian Journeys by reading TripAdvisor Forums. I contacted him and he was professional and helpful in his prompt reply. I had a very short time to visit Kerala and would be traveling alone, so I wanted everything planned carefully. NewMon helped with every detail and had great suggestions based on the travel logistics and my interests. I was able to stay in 2 wonderful resorts, visit Periyer Reserve, enjoy an elephant encounter, tour a tea plantation and spice gardens. My driver Santhosh was with me the entire 4 days and transported me to the airport for my flight home. NewMon called every evening to make sure all was well and paid a visit in person to meet me prior to my departure from India. I was very pleased with the planning and professional follow up. I would definitely recommend and use again should I return to India.

Hi New Mon, Happy New Year! I owe you a long overdue note of thanks for our trip to Jaipur, Agra, and UP in November 2013. That was my fourth trip to India, and you made it by far the easiest. Things don't always run according to plan in India, but with your coordination we had no unpleasant surprises. We thoroughly enjoyed our guide Mr. Sharma in Jaipur, but the real star of our trip was our driver, Manoj. Not only an excellent driver, he was friendly, reliable, and always knew where he was going. (That last bit is extremely important - I've gotten lost in so many cities in India because of a lack of signage and/or addresses. The fact that it didn't happen while in his car was amazing.) Nigel and I have used Newmon at The Indian Journeys to organise two holidays to India. The first one in 2015 was to Northern India including Delhi, Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Udaipur and the Golden Temple in Amritsar and Ranthambore tiger sanctuary. We didn’t meet Newmon on that trip, but he phoned us every day to check everything was ok. He organised our driver, Krishna, who was superb. The second trip in 2018 was to Kerala where we stayed in Fort Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and Marari backwaters and Kovalam with an overnight stay on a houseboat and again was such a good trip. I would definitely recommend Newmon to anybody who wants to experience India. He tailor made the holiday to suit our preferred dates and sites we wanted to see. The hotels were all top quality and the drivers on both trips were absolutely amazing and put themselves out to give us the best experience ever. There is lots to recommend about experiencing Kerala through Newmon’s organization - the time he dedicates to tailor making the trip to suit your interests in the lead up to the trip, a helpful, understanding and experienced driver; his hospitality when you meet up with him in person; and more. The one thing that stood out for me, however, was his connections with great guides - among some of best I have had in all my travels - and delightful places to stay. I thoroughly recommend Kurialacherry house for a real sense of the backwaters. No big international companies involved - just getting to know Kerala through local eyes and supporting local businesses. And it works out economical too!
